Dear ministry partners,
A Heart for Africa at Life Bridge Church
October has been an amazing month for us as we had the opportunity to visit our extended family, partnering church, and friends in Fort Wayne, Indiana. God is so good and faithful—His mighty hands carried us through and we were able to spend some much-needed time away with our spiritual family. As we shared about the work in Gambia, we were encouraged, prayed for, lifted up, refreshed, and lavished with love! The change of environment, being surrounded with such loving atmosphere, and focusing on the future God has for us and the ministry was exactly what our hearts and souls needed! We believe God is at work healing, restoring and recovering everything according to His purpose and timing.
The theme at Life Bridge Church for their Missions month this year was “Heartbeat for Africa.” We were invited to be the speakers for the second Sunday in October and shared about the work God is doing in Gambia. We also had the amazing privilege of attending the Heartland District convention in Chicago and we were blessed beyond measure! The Holy Spirit ministered to us and filled our hearts with hope for the future!
As we continued our stay in Fort Wayne, we had the opportunity to meet Metrinah, the speaker/mission director for the work Life Bridge Church supports in Zambia. The church provided a mid-week evening with food and many people came to hear us and Metrinah share again with a time of questions and answers. It was amazing to share our stories from the two sides of the African continent and to sense people’s hearts for the people of Zambia. One thing that became very clear to us as we learned about the other ministries supported in Africa is that they are all focused on children’s education. Africa is a spiritually dark continent; the spiritual oppression is very real and it has even more power and control over people who are not educated—believing in superstitions and witchcraft in their search for a higher power.
Education is key to enlighten the next generation, teaching them the truth about the love of God, and to help them understand the authority and power Jesus gave us by His Name and His Blood over the enemy of our souls. This encourages us even more to continue educating as many children as possible, to mentor and disciple the believers, and empower them to go and teach others.
Emmanuel Mission School Update
This may come as late news for us here in the U.S., but not for Gambia: the results of the final exam for Grade 9 students were released in September and we are so pleased to report that all of our students have passed to enter high school! This exam is prepared by the West African Examination Council, developed in Nigeria, and conducted across all the West African countries. With passing scores, the students are placed in different high schools in Gambia—otherwise they would have to attend a secondary school. We are so proud to see all our students thrive, succeed and have an opportunity for education and a better future. We believe with all our hearts that children are the future of every nation and by bringing them up with the knowledge of God’s love in their hearts, their future would be different and the future of the whole continent of Africa will change by the love of God.
This year, we have 340 students registered at Emmanuel Mission Center; we also have six new teachers. There are 30-50 new students and attending a Christian school will give them the opportunity to hear the truth about Jesus and experience the love of God. Our prayers are that every seed of the Word of God planted in their hearts take will root, grow, and produce fruit that will last. God is at work among the Muslim nations and Gambia is in God’s heart! He wants everyone to be saved and our vision is to share His amazing love with every child and every person in Gambia. Our hearts are longing to be there among the people we love so much, but while we are in “the waiting room” we are praying for the workers on the ground, for the harvest, and for the day that God will say “GO!” He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or imagine according to His Mighty Power! Amen!
Thank you so much for partnering with us in prayer, support, and giving to the work of God in this nation. We cannot do what we do without your commitment to pray and give. Prayer changes everything and we believe things are about to change and the Kingdom of God will be established in Gambia and we will see His Glory!
In this season of Thanksgiving, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your faithfulness! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! May God shower you with His blessings.
Blessings and much love,
Sol and Manuela Bah
