Dear friends and family,
It’s no news that in the last few months the whole world has changed and that includes Gambia. Even though there were not too many cases of the Coronavirus reported in Gambia, the country has been shut down since the end of March just like the U.S. and other countries. We are watching the nations surrounding the Gambia to see how they are doing as well since Gambia is surrounded by Senegal. We appreciate your prayers for God’s protection over the entire nation as the health care system is very limited compared to the western world. Please pray for the believers and leaders to take every opportunity share the hope of God’s love for us.
Loving our Neighbors in Tangible Ways
In the midst of this critical situation, we were able to reach out and provide 60 bags of rice to different villages and families. Our ministry partners were able to bless some families in their villages and with the help of Mr. Dan and Lamin Darboe, we were also able to bless some students from the school and their families with rice.
Emmanuel Mission Center
The schools have been closed for over 2 months, but the Education Department is encouraging all schools and teachers to develop strategic steps on how to engage the students and continue their education to some degree. We are developing ways to have reading materials, homework assignments, and projects available that the parents can pick up from the school on a weekly basis so the students can continue learning. We are working from here with our staff, guiding them on how to make that possible and stay within the safety guidelines provided by the Health Department.
School Garden
While the school was closed, the Agricultural Teacher initiated and organized a handful of students to continue watering the school garden and attend to it. We are so proud of them and their commitment to ensure their hard work does not go to waste and to see them take the initiative.
Prayer
We don’t know when the school will reopen and how the long shutdown is going to affect the students. Will the students have to repeat this academic year or extend school studies through the summer? We just don’t know and are taking it one step at a time and one day at a time, continuously praying for wisdom and direction. We appreciate your prayers for us, the school, and children. God can use these circumstances to bring people to Himself and glorify His Name, and that is our prayer.
Thank you so much for your commitment to pray, give, and support the work God is doing in Gambia. We know that each one of you is continuing to give and support this work sacrificially and we cannot even begin to tell you how much we appreciate it! We thank God for you and we pray for His protection, provision, and health for you and your families. We cannot do what we do without you! We declare the protection of the Blood of Jesus over you, your jobs, and your children!
Blessings and much love,
Sol and Manuela Bah
